Rainbow expects earnings to double

Rainbow, South Africa’s second largest poultry producer, seems set to deliver another set of outstanding annual results.

Rainbow was listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in June 2024, after being unbundled from its former owner, RCL Foods.

In its first year as a standalone company, to June 2025, Rainbow’s earnings were up more than 200% to R571 million.

It is now about to report results for its second standalone year, to June 2026. In a trading statement ahead of the results, the company indicated that earnings for the financial year are again likely to more than double.

Rainbow said its expected earnings per share (EPS) to be between 122% and 142% higher than the previous year. Headline earnings per share (HEPS) are expected to be between 118% and 138% above the 2025 year.

“The improvements in EPS and HEPS are primarily driven by favourable market conditions, including stronger demand for poultry products and lower commodity prices, supported by robust agricultural and operational performance and cost efficiencies achieved during the reporting period,” the company stated.

The results statement is due on 28 August.
