Brazil chicken exports set to increase

Brazil is likely to benefit more than any other country from increasing global demand for chicken, according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The department’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) expected Brazil’s poultry production to grow by 2% in 2025 after a record 2024, according to WATTPoultry.

Brazil is the world’s largest poultry exporter, with 33% of its chicken production going to global markets. The country expects to export 5.4 million tonnes of chicken meat in 2025.

The FAS forecast that the greatest gains in Brazilian chicken meat exports would be in Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and the UK. It said that Brazilian success in world markets would be primarily at the expense of the EU and the US.

The long-term outlook for Brazil’s chicken exports has been boosted by a 2023 trade agreement between the European Union and the Mercosur group of countries, which includes Brazil. The agreement includes a duty-free quota of chicken meat into the EU, which will be phased in over six years.
