South Africa’s third largest chicken producer, Country Bird Holdings, is on a roll. Last week we reported on its expansion at the Supreme Chicken facility in North West Province, investing R180 million and creating 100 new jobs.
Now there’s news of a substantial upgrade of the facility CBH bought in Germiston, part of the Ekurhuleni metropole near Johannesburg.
The facility will become the headquarters of Supreme’s value added chicken products, such as chicken nuggets, strips and other offerings in high demand at fast food outlets.
Landbouweekblad reports that CBH chief executive Brendon de Boer has dubbed the state-of-the art facility the “poultry palace” and that CBH plans further upgrades there later this year.
